Tracon is a noteworthy presence among Cup of Excellence members, having placed two coffees in Ethiopia’s top 20 during its record-breaking 2021 Cup of Excellence Auction—solidifying its reputation for quality. In the Uraga district of the Guji Zone, Tibe Haro farmers grow coffee at elevations of 2,000–2,300 meters, harvesting ripe cherries by hand before delivering them to Tracon’s Tibe Haro Wachu Washing Station. Farming practices here remain largely traditional and organic by default, preserving the integrity of the land and the coffee it produces.
Tracon provides training and resources that empower producers to refine their craft and enhance quality. After a 48–72-hour underwater fermentation, the beans dry for 16–21 days on raised beds, carefully rotated to ensure even development. Final milling at Tracon’s modern Addis Ababa facility sorts each lot by density, size, and color, further highlighting the region’s distinct terroir. Through careful roasting, we bring out the coffee’s bright, layered profile with notes of tangerine, black tea, floral, and apricot—ensuring a balanced and expressive cup.
